The summer has passed & next week will be Lodge Colia's first meeting back after the recess.  Monday 6th September at 7.00pm prompt.  Our good friends from St Thomas Kilwining Dalmellington No 433 will be conferring the Mark Master Degree on two candidates.  Over the summer Past Master Billy Dykes won the Provincial Grand Lodge of Ayrshire's fishing tournament with the fine fish pictured below, well done Past Master Dykes.  We also held a Games night were we invited Prestwick 1060 to take part in games of cards & dominoes & I can report Colia was able to win both tournaments!!!!!!! Well done to all who took part in a most enjoyable evening.  Special mention for Past Master Bro Robert (Velux) McLaughlin for organising the games.

Last night Lodge Coila St Andrew held their last meeting of the season.  R.W.M. Bro Colin Cruickshanks opened the lodge and welcomed a great number of visitors including a Deputation from the R.W.M.'s Mother Lodge 1461 Heatheryknowe headed by Past Master Secretary Bro Drew Strain.  A Deputation from our Sister Lodge St James Newton Upon Ayr No 125 was welcomed in by the brethren.  28 members of 125 came along headed by their Immediate Past Master Bro Charles McEwan.  R.W.M. Bro Colin Cruickshanks welcomed them all and invited Bro Charles McEwan to the east to accept the mallet.  Office bearers where exchanged and the lodge was raised to the High Noble & Sublime Degree of a Master Mason and Bro Stuart McCarlie was raised in an excellent Manner by the Brethren of 125.  The Lodge was then reduced and the Mallet returned to R.W.M. Bro Colin Cruickshanks, who thanked the Brethren of 125 for coming along in such numbers and doing such a great job in the degree.
The R.W.M. wished the brethren a happy summer recess and thanked them all for the support he has received in his year thus far. The Instruction class will continue over the summer months meeting on the 1st Sunday of each month at 7.00PM.
Work will be carried out over the summer, main projects are the Bar, Fire Exit Door, Toilets & the kitchen area.  Hopefully some work will also be carried out in the rear garden.
 
 
 
 

 
R.W.M. Bro Colin Cruickshanks welcomed a large & distinguished deputation from our Sister Lodge Tarbolton Kilwining St James No 135 headed by their own R.W.M. Bro William Lindsay into Lodge Coila.  They had come along to confer the Fellowcraft Degree which was carried out in an excellent manner.  R.W.M. Bro Cruickshanks thanked the Brethren of 135 for an excellent degree & for coming along in such numbers.  The Lodge was then closed and a few hours were spent in harmony.  We have been invited to confer the Master Mason Degree along at St Thomas Kilwining Dalmellington No 433 on Wednesday 7th of April.  433 tyles at 7.00pm so brethren are requested to be there for no later than 7.30pm.  We have also been invited to carry out an Entered Apprentice Degree at St James Newton Upon Ayr No 125 on Monday the 12th of April Once again Brethren are requested to be there no later than 7.30pm.  Our next regular meeting will be on the 19th of April & is the last meeting before recess.  It is a Master Mason Degree in the most capable hands of our good friends at St James Newton Upon Ayr No 125.  Brethren please note that on all these occasion it is Black & White please.
 
 
 

 
 
Lodge Coila carried out an Entered Apprentice Degree last night and Mr Stuart McCarlie was initiated into Freemasonry at the hands of the R.W.M. Bro Colin Cruickshanks and his degree team.  Next regular meeting will be on the 5th of April where we will welcome a deputation from our very good friends from St James Kilwining Tarbolton No 135.  It will be a Fellowcraft Degree and the brethren are reminded to wear Black & White that evening.  The R.W.M. intimated that he would be carrying out a part in the First Degree at the Gathering of the St Andrew Lodges up in Alexandria on Saturday the 20th March. We also have a visitation to carry out the Mark Master Degree at Troon Navigation No 86 on Thursday 1st April.
 
 

 
 
R.W.M. Bro Colin Cruickshanks welcomed a large & distinguished deputation from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Ayrshire headed by Right Worshipful Depute Provincial Grand Master Bro Robert Little into Lodge Coila last night (01/03/2010).  It was the annual visitation from P.G.L. and we received a clear minute.  Bro Tommy Brown was advanced to the Honorary Degree of a Mark Master at the hands of the R.W.M. & his degree team.  51 brethren signed the book plus 10 brethren from P.G.L.

 
 

 
R.W.M. Bro Colin Cruickshanks welcomed a large & distinguished deputation from Prestwick 1060 on Monday the 15th of February, headed by their own R.W.M. Bro Archie Patrick P.M.  R.W.M. Bro Archie and his degree team raised Bro Tommy Brown in an excellent manner.  84 brethren signed the attendance book and enjoyable night was had by all.  The R.W.M. has called an enquiry committee meeting for Monday the 22nd of February followed by a General committee straight after.  Next regular meeting of the Lodge will be on Monday 1st March at 7.00pm which will be a Mark Master Degree by the R.W.M. & his degree team, there will also be a ballot.  It will also be our annual visitation from Provincial Grand Lodge that night and office bearers are reminded to wear black and white please.  The Depute Provincial Grand Master Bro Robert Little will be heading the Provincial Deputation
 
 

The Office Bearers & Brethren of Coila kicked off February with a 3rd Degree last night (1st of Feb) conferred upon Bro Steven Bell who was raised in an excellent manner.  The R.W.M. welcomed the Brethren & was accompanied in the East by the R.W.M. of 133 St David Mauchline & the R.W.M. of 204 Ayr St Paul.  The next regular meeting is the 15th of February where we have
 our very good friends at Prestwick 1060 coming to confer the 3rd Degree.  Office Bearers are reminded that it will be Black & White that night please.  Lodge will open at 7.00PM prompt
 

 
 
 
Monday the 18th of January saw the R.W.M. & his degree team pass Bro Tommy Brown to the 2nd degree.  The cuff-link raffle made £80 to be added to the collection made on the 4th of January which made the grand total of £215 which will be handed over to the Give Ross A Future campaign.  The R.W.M. would like to thank all the brethren for their donations & help in raising the money.  The cuff links where won by Brothers Clark McCrindle & Bro James Bell P.M..  Next Regular meeting will be on the 1st of February & it will be a 3rd Degree carried out by the R.W.M. & his degree team. 

The Provincial Grand Master of Ayrshire Bro Archie Chalmers & Provincial Grand Secretary Bro Robert Stewart attended our regular meeting on the 4th January 2010 & presented our Depute Master Bro Freddie Westcott with his 50 year diploma.  Bro Steven Bell was passed to the 2nd or Square degree by the R.W.M. & his degree team.  The R.W.M. has started a raffle to help raise funds for a two year old boy Ross Anderton & his family.  Ross has to travel to America for treatment, more information can be found on his web-site http://www.giverossafuture.org.uk/  The lodge has made a donation of £100, this was added to by other brethren in attendance last night.  The final figure donated will be announced at the end of January.  The R.W.M. & Wardens would like to thank everyone for attending the meeting on the 4th January, the weather really has been very poor & the pavements outside the lodge are very slippy.  A big thanks to everyone who turned out on such a cold night.  The R.W.M. will head a deputation to the Bonnie Doon on Wednesday the 13th of January to carry out a Fellowcraft degree.  Next regular meeting will be on the 18th January at 7.00 & it will be another Fellowcraft Degree.  Instruction classes will be on as usual on Sunday nights.
 

 
The R.W.M. will start 2010 with a 2nd Degree on the 4th January at 7.00p.m. prompt.  Following the meeting there will be a Jubilee Presentation by the P.G.M. Bro Archie Chalmers. Instruction classes will start on Sunday the 3rd January at 7.00pm.
 
 
 

 
 
Next regular meeting will be the 21st December and it will be an E.A. Degree.  The R.W.M. is also planning a social night at the Lodge on the 23rd December.  Sunday night instruction classes are being run every week, for all the brethren.
 

 
 
Monday the 7th December was R.W.M. Bro. Colin Cruickshanks first meeting.  R.W.M. & his degree team carried out an E.A. Degree & Bro Tommy Brown was initiated into Freemasonry.  The Installing Masters also finished off the Installation by installing the remaining office bearers.  Substitute Master Bro George Taylor was presented with a Substitute Master's Breast Jewel for the many years of service he has given the Lodge.  The Lodge has been invited to confer the F.C. Degree at our Sister Lodge the Bonnie Doon 565 on the 13th of January 2010 & also to Lodge Douglas East Kilbride on the 26th of February 2010, again this is a F.C. Degree.  There being no further business the Lodge was closed & harmony followed, 57 brethren signed the book.
 

 
Saturday 21st November is our annual installation at 4.00PM in the Claude Hamilton Hall Coylton with the dinner & harmony to follow at the lodge with the meal being served around 7.00PM. Installing Masters are Bro David Queen P.M. 1334, Bro William Fulton P.M.1334 & Bro Ian D. Clark P.M. 1334
 
 

 
Last night saw Right Worshipful Master Bro Jim W. Smillie last regular meeting of the lodge before Saturday's installation.  He & his degree team carried out a first class Mark Master Mason degree.  He then conferred Honorary membership on the R.W.M. of Lodge Prestwick 1060, Bro Robert Robertson McLaughlin.
 

Next regular meeting will be R.W.M. Jim Smillie's last meeting before the Installation.  He and his degree team will be carrying out a Mark Master Mason Degree on Monday 16th November 2009 at 7.00pm.

 
Lodge Coila St Andrew 1334 annual installation will take place on the 21st November 2009 at 4.00pm at the Claude Hamilton Hall, Coylton.  Installing Masters are Bro David Queen, P.M. 1334, Bro William Fulton, P.M. 1334, Bro Ian D. Clark, P.M. 1334.
 
 

Master Elect Bro C.Cruickshanks would like as many of the office bearers as possible to turn up at Sunday night instruction classes as there is only two left before the installation.  Sunday 8th & Sunday 15th November 2009 at 7.00pm.
 
 

 
 
Monday 2nd November saw R.W.M. Bro Jim Smilie carry out a first class Mark Master Degree on one Candidate Bro Richard Madden.  Brethren were informed of the sad passing to the Grand Lodge above of Past Master Bro Jim Freeburn.  Arrangements were made for the funeral on Thursday 5th November 2009 at Patna cemetery.
 

Sorry about not updating the website of late.  Hope to be bring the website back up to date shortly.  Firstly last night saw a fine deputation from Troon Navigation No 86 carry out a First Class 3rd Degree on candidate Bro Richard Madden.  We had a good turn out of visiting brethren too, 125, 135,204, 230 & 1060 all being represented.

Welcome back.  The Lodge kicks off again on Monday 7th September at 7.00PM.  It will be a 2nd Degree carried out by R.W.M. Bro James Smillie & his Degree team.  Please bear with us as we have been carrying out renovations to the bar.  Hopefully all will be complete in time for Monday's meeting.  Sunday night instruction classes will also kick of this week Sunday 6th September again at 7.00PM.
 
 

 
Several members of Coila went to the Isle of Arran on Saturday the 20th June to attend the meeting of Ayrshire Blue Bells Lodge No 7 (Order of the Free Gardeners).  The weather was good, the food was good, so was the company and all had a good time.  Photographs are posted below.
 
 
 
 

The Brethren that attended the Installation of Bro. James W. Beattie of Lodge 1333 John O Groat report that they had a great time.  The Brethren of 1333 were fantastic hosts and everyone who attended had a great time.  In the photographs below shows the temple of Lodge John O Groat & Bro J. Gerrard & Bro. S.King at the signpost at John O Groat. 
 
A big thanks to our hosts who went out of their way to make our stay such an enjoyable experience.  From 1333 in the North to 1335 in the South Freemasonry Scotland is flourishing.  We look forward to meeting up again soon.
 

Committee meeting announced for Monday the 13th April has been changed to Tuesday 14th April as the 13th is Easter Monday.
 

Our next regular meeting will be on Monday 20th April at 7.00PM prompt at the Dicks Building Joppa.  It will be a Fellowcraft Degree in the most capable hands of the I.P.M. Bro David Queen P.M.  Could the Brethren please note that this is our last regular meeting until September.
 

 
Last night the 6th April 2009 the Travelling Mallet was captured by a large Deputation from our Sister Lodge St Thomas Kilwinning Dalmellington 433 headed on this occasion by their own R.W.M. Bro James McKinstry.

News for all those travelling to 1333 on the 1st May.  Our friends at 1333 John O Groat have arranged accommodation for us at the Weigh Inn Motel in Thurso.  The Chalet cost is based on two sharing works out at £20 per head per night, bed & breakfast.  Which I think is a great price.  Bro Colin Cruickshanks will be collecting a £20 deposit from all those wishing to attend on Monday 6th April.  Travel arrangements will be made nearer the time.

W.S.W. Bro C.Cruickshanks is taking names for a trip upto Lodge 1333 John O Groat.  It is proposed that the party leaves Coylton on Thursday 30th April & return on Saturday the 2nd May.  Lodge 1333 are having their annual installation on Friday 1st May at 7.00pm.

 


Monday 16th March Regular meeting of the lodge will take place in the Masonic Temple, Dicks Building, Joppa at 7.00PM. 
The degree will be a M.M.M. carried out by our very good friends of St James Newton Upon Ayr No 125. Office Bearers please remember Black & White.

He was accompanied by Past Master Bro W.Fulton, Depute Master Bro R.Kerr, Substitute Master Bro G.Taylor, W.S.W. Bro C.Cruickshanks, W.J.W. Bro C.McCrindle, Treasurer Bro A.H. Brown, Bible Bearer Bro D.McColl, Sword Bearer Bro F.Westcott, Honorary Members Past Master Bro J.Trousdale (1060) & Bro R.Howitson (125).
R.W.M. Bro J.McDonald of Lodge 1212 Wallace St Hugh carried out a fine M.M.M. degree on Bro Ian Blackwood who was advanced to the Honourable Degree of M.M.M. by the R.W.M. & his degree team.  R.W.M. Bro J.W.Smillie spoke on behalf of the visiting brethern.

R.W.M. Bro J.W. Smillie & his degree team carried out a M.M.M. degree that evening on two brethern who were adavanced to the Honourable Degree of M.M.M.s
The S.P.G.M. gave a clear minute to the lodge & congraulated both the Treasurer & Secretary.
